Rural Renewal Initiative

The Rural Scholars program is designed to positively impact rural communities and Oklahoma State University undergraduate and graduate students. The Rural Scholars program will mobilize students at OSU to conduct research on leading issues and grand challenges impacting rural communities in Oklahoma and beyond.

Ten OSU students are serving rural Oklahoma communities in the summer of 2025. Learn more about them and their work below.

Undergraduate student in Entomology and Psychology studying high school students' knowledge and attitudes relating to nutrition, diabetes, and exercise in southeast Oklahoma
Mounika Gopishetty
Graduate student in Public Health studying study the prevalence of E. coli and coliforms in well water and community awareness of waterborne diseases in Jackson County, Oklahoma

Sophomore in Animal Science studying how female agricultural producers in Oklahoma use digital media to connect with other producers and find resources
